Muay Thai Judging Course

Today 10 members of Telford Thai Boxing took park in a judging seminar and assessment.

It was a real eye opener and amazing value for money.

The point was lost on some, i didn't organise the course so we can have x amount of judges in team TTB, I organised it because in order to win a fight you need to score, if nothing else participants have learned how judges view different techniques

In relation to scoring. 

Darren is one of the top referees and judges in the UK and the course was written by professor Tony Myers who is a leading authority in Muay Thai and a world renown referee..

Interclub Success

23 Telford Thai Boxing students attended a fantastically well organised interclub last weekend.

The event was run by a friend of the club, Kevin Doorman at Studley Road Social Club in Redditch. 

There was over 100 fighters for this non decision interclub.

For many of our students this was the first time sparring in front of an audience and all did fantastically well.

Redditch Interclub

On Sunday 7th September 2014 were off to another interclub - this time in Redditch were we'll meet up with our friends from Thaitans MT who host a cracking show for juniors and adults.

Were leaving Telford at 09:30 on the minibus and in convoy, we currently have 23 fighters ranging from Rocco aged 5 & 20kg right though each class with some first time adults taking the step into the ring.

Interclubs are a great opportunity to showcase your skills while sparring with people from other clubs, they are no winners or losers so the idea is to remove some of the pressure involved in a real fight and allow you try new things in a safe environment.

Monday's Technical Class hits 40

Monday's have always been very popular, its the day of the week that we host our technical class, the class that averages 27 students saw a huge rise to 40 students this Monday and judging by the feedback on Facebook it was very well received.

We teach in every class but on Monday's we tend to spend a little longer breaking down techniques, theories and concepts - its perfect for new starters, those preparing for gradings or more senior students working wanting a re-cap.

We Welcome Jen to our Instructor Team

Jen has been training at Telford Thai Boxing for years, she has taken part in several interclubs and is working hard towards her novice debut.

She has always been keen to help the club and always talked about eventually doing some teaching, I'm very happy to say that Jen has been taking a couple of Ladies over the last few weeks and the reception from our members has been fantastic.

Jen has agreed to take on the mighty Ladies on a trial basis and we wish her all the success!!
